Hello readers. My name is Ariana, and I currently live in North Queensland, Australia. I recently moved up here from Sydney which was home for the last 20 years.
I was born in Trebinje, Bosnia & Herzgovina, which was part of the former Yugoslavia. I was just four years old when the war started and we had to leave.
We got asylum into Denmark where we stayed for almost 2 years in a Red Cross Centre with other Bosnian refugees.
We got Visas to live in Australia in 1994, and Sydney was what i though my home was up until 2013 when I went back to my birth country for the first time since leaving.
Even though I love Australia, and call myself an Aussie, going back for the first time in 2013 since the war changed my whole outlook. I left a piece of my heart there and its only complete when i go back. Other Bosnians migrants will know what im talking about 🙂
My love and passion for my country is what made me start this blog. I wanted others to be inspired and see the beauty of what this once war torn country offered.
